Doctor's Appointment

My doctor's appointment today was very uneventful. She laughed when I told her how active he was and just how much he moves. He even did his own demonstration for her while she was measuring my belly! His heartbeat was 150, which she said was good. She said anything from 110-160 was good....and that since my baby is so active, he's going to have a higher heart rate. This could mean trouble when he comes out...maybe he just moves in his sleep....that's what we're telling ourselves! My belly is 31" and I haven't gained a pound in 2 weeks, which is great! I'm still stuck at gaining only 19 pounds and next week I'll be 8 months along. Not too bad, I don't think. I guess working out is helping. I credit that as to the reason why I haven't had any swelling.

Raun put the crib up this past week, which I was so excited about. Then, we did do a little bit of work in his room on Saturday and Sunday. There's still so much to do, but that's okay! It's coming along. Mom, Ma, and I went shopping on Monday and found some curtains for his room. Hopefully they will look good hanging up. Mom and Dad are dropping off the cradle tomorrow on their way back from moving John out of Hotlanta...AHHHH!!! Now we're going to have to look at it every day since it'll be in our room...that'll be weird!

30 weeks...7 1/2 months!

I can't believe how far I am along and how close we are to meeting our son! As of Friday, I was 30 weeks along. Only 6-10 weeks left, hopefully! These are going to be the fastest weeks I've experienced, I think.

Raun came home and we've been working on moving things around to make room for the crib. He's going to be putting it together tonight, which I can't wait! Next month it will hopefully be all finished and ready for Blake...at least that's my goal.

Our baby has been kicking me and moving sooo much. He has kicked one certain spot so much and so long that it is REALLY sore. It seems that when I'm sleepy, he's not and vice versa. It's making for some really long nights. I've still been working out so that I will be tired enough to fall asleep, but it's not working.

Mom and Dad stopped by on their way back from Florida to eat Father's Day dinner with us at Logan's. It was good to hear about their trip and the ocean mishap with my grandfather....I so wish I could have been there, but perhaps his Christmas present will help him out some! Dad got some weird looks because he was using his Father's Day present in the Logan's parking lot. We got him a crawler because his other one had broken, so he was trying to look under Raun's truck to see how he liked it. A man drove by and gave Dad a weird look....like it's not everyday you see a man on a crawler in a parking lot going under cars....Sheesh!

Aunt Patricia, Uncle Ray and the kiddos went to Lake Winnie this weekend and we had the chance to meet up to eat dinner with them at A & W. It was wonderful to talk with them and hear about their fun time and the rides they rode. The best part was Bethany being almost hoarse! I think she might have done a lot of yelling. I can't wait to go with them next year with our baby....David will have a little partner to ride with.

I go to the doctor Thursday, so I'll post the results this week. Hopefully all will be well!

28 weeks pictures and doctor's appointment

My doctor's appointment went well today! The baby's heartbeat is a good 140 and the doctor was pleased. She also liked that I haven't had swollen ankles or anything so far and was impressed. Maybe my exercising is helping? Who knows! Goodness knows I'm getting lots of water from my watermelon and at least 2 liters of water:) I am now going to the doctor every two weeks...AHH!!! It's getting closer! So crazy! I am having more indigestion now, but she told me Tums were safe, so I bought the Smoothie tasting ones. Not half bad tasting. My doctor and I talked a little about labor and delivery today, which was reassuring. I asked her when the latest was that I would be able to get an epidural, if needed, and she said "if the head's out, then it's too late." She seemed supportive of me going as natural as possible, so that was great. I had my glucose test and got to drink lots of sugar...and my baby was very happy and active. He kept kicking the heartbeat monitor:)

The orchestra at church threw Raun and me another surprise shower. That's two from the same church so far! And they have one more planned...but thank goodness it's not a surprise. I at least get to come prepared for this one. They had really tricked me with the past two showers. They were so wonderful and had bought us so many things, including our stroller. I was so excited! Raun put it together because when we first attempted it at the shower, the handle was broken. He wanted to make sure this one wasn't broken before it was too late to exchange it. I will just say that Babies-R-us has some of the most helpful staff. It's looking like I have a shower almost every weekend in July, which is highly exciting! It's amazing that people would want to help us out so much.

Julie had her baby last Friday and little Eli is beautiful. I got to go over and see her on Tuesday and she was looking good. It was so weird to look at him and imagine him being in her belly. His little feet did kick a lot. She said that's what he was doing constantly in her belly. I can't wait to get another glimpse of our baby!

7 months!

I've had a very relaxing past 3 weeks since the transition of the school schedule and the summer schedule. I've still had to work, but not quite as much. The rest has been great and I've gotten a lot of stuff done. It's weird to think that my next break will come as the baby enters our lives.

Bethany came and stayed with us for the past week. It was so nice to have her and to have someone to talk to during the day. We went shopping one day and she experienced Japanese food for the very first time. I even shared her first Starbucks drink experience with her...which she liked! It was definitely fitting that I share in that with her:) We didn't do too much because it was too hot outside to go on the trails. She did take the infamous walk around our neighborhood, which is an incredible workout. There's nothing like hills to whip your butt into shape! We met Aunt Patricia, Uncle Ray, Anna and David at Western Sizzlin' yesterday to give Beth back to her family. The dinner was great, and it was wonderful to spend time chatting with them. We've invested in Beth's band trip experience by buying homemade bread from her almost every week that mom comes to visit. I love sourdough bread...it's so good! When we first saw them, Anna got out of the car and told Beth..."I missed you....I almost forgot what you looked like!" Those two squirts always make us laugh. I'm surprised that David isn't sick since Raun came up with weird food concoctions for him to try...such as dipping a pickled okra into his chocolate ice cream. However, David came up with eating tomatoes and the pickled okra at the same time as his ice cream! We all wondered if he was the pregnant one!

It has been incredibly hot here the past week, and it doesn't look like it's going to cool down any. I've definitely been hot and at night, I freeze Raun out....and I'm still hot! We already have two fans in our room...the ceiling one and a turning one....but I think we're going to have to invest in a table top one now. I've successfully been drinking over 2 liters of water a day and watermelon is my new craving. I ate a half of one in almost 2 days! It was soooo good.

My family is all traveling to Florida this week without us! I'm a little sad that I won't get to see everyone but I know that traveling would be very uncomfortable and we won't even talk about the heat and being outside! But I do hope that they all have fun and come back with lots of stories to tell me.

Work is going good and is constantly increasing. God has answered one of our prayers and has made it possible for one of my childhood church friends, Julie Dill, to watch our baby when I go back to work. She will be able to watch him 2 days a week while I work those 2. We really didn't want to take him to a daycare because we wanted to know the person that would be watching him. Julie is so wonderful and just had her baby boy Friday, so little Eli will only be 3 months older than ours. It's funny how God works every little detail out. I had been praying about it for so long because it had really been on my heart. When I talked with her about it, she said that her and Eric had been talking and praying about doing something like that a few days a week. God is so good! It's just funny that the same girl that I used to play with when I was little and the one I grew up with is going to sharing in our son's life and our baby boys will play with each other.

I have my 7 month doctor's appointment on Thursday and get to take the glucose test. I'm just praying that it comes back normal and I don't have to take the full-blown test.

Raun is celebrating his 29th birthday this weekend. He's staying busy trying to help me out with cleaning and bending over to pick things up. He has finally felt the baby ball up and shift sides in my stomach. He couldn't believe how strong he felt when he would flip around. Ever since he's felt that, he wants to keep pushing my belly and making him kick. He's going to be such a good daddy!
